Youth Participation Guideleines

Students and youth groups are an important part of Project Warm’s Annual BLITZ; providing lots of enthusiasm and willingness to help. They can also earn needed volunteer service hours.  To maximize their experience and to deliver meaningful and respectful service to Project Warm Clients, we ask those assembling teams with students or youth groups to follow these procedures.  Any student interested in volunteering with Project Warm must be, at least, a high school freshman.

Youth Team Composition

  1. Three to four students - high school freshmen or older

  2. Of those students, one must:

  • Be a junior or senior

  • Have prior experience as a Blitz volunteer

  • Have been to Team Leader Orientation and Training

  • Serve as the team mentor, coordinating his/her fellow students on the job.

  1. In addition to the students on the team, the team must have one person over the age of 21, who has attended Team Leader Orientation & Training and serves as responsible party for the youth team.

Youth Participation Includes Five Elements

  1. Signatures from a parent or guardian on the Team Member Registration.

  2. Attending Orientation & Training.

  3. Arriving at 8:00 a.m. for the BLITZ Day Breakfast & Send-off.

  4. Providing BLITZ in-home service for 2-3 homes.

  5. Debriefing and returning materials upon completion of in-home service.

Youth Team Training

Whenever possible, groups of 10 or more teams may receive training at their site. All students are expected to attend training.

Individual Youth Volunteers
