Office Volunteers

Help in the Project Warm office is always appreciated, especially during the winter season.   Office volunteers may answer phones, make copies, file, assist with fundraising,  compile mailings or energy education manuals, data entry or assemble workshop bags.

Field Volunteers  

Work daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly or per your schedule and install weatherization materials in residents' homes.

Blitz Volunteers

  • Hang interior plastic window covers

  • Discuss basic energy saving tips with the resident

  • Assess the home for other needs: smoke alarms, missing primary glass in windows, changing furnace filter & more

First Line Weatherization Volunteers

  • Weather-strip doors

  • Caulk windows

  • Replace / install locks on doors & windows

  • Seal air leaks around pipes

  • Seal around window air conditioners

  • Seal missing window panes with insulation boards and measure for replacement glass

  • Discuss basic energy saving tips with resident

  • Replace glass

  • Seal air leaks in walls & ceilings (including attic access)

  • Plane & re-hang doors

  • Check vents & cold air return ducts if needed

  • Check & replace furnace filters

  • Check for proper venting of space heaters

  • Discuss energy saving tips with residents

  • Assess client and their home for other needs from Project Warm or other local service agencies

Special Events Volunteers

Work as needed throughout the year during specially planned events such as the Yearly Fundraising Party. Help with a variety of support roles such as door ticket sales, registration, set-up and clean-up.

 

Youth Volunteers

Young people, high school age and above, have many opportunities to work with Project Warm year-round, individually or with school, club and religious groups.  Individuals or leaders of organizations should e-mail the volunteer coordinator or contact him at the Project Warm office (502) 636-9276.

Group Service Opportunities

Throughout the year, tailored projects can be arranged for various group sizes.  The greatest need for help is between October and January of each year. For more information e-mail the volunteer coordinator or contact him at the Project Warm office (502) 636-9276.
